Mini Tennis
Mini Tennis consists of 3 different levels ~ Mini Tennis Red, Mini Tennis Orange and Mini Tennis Green. Each level is designed for children of a different age-range and the Mini Tennis system is designed as a pathway to playing tennis on the full tennis court.
All of our Mini Tennis squads run alongside school term dates and our pupils register and pay half-termly in advance.

Mini Tennis Red for children aged 8 and under (born 2003 or later)
Mini Tennis Red is the first stage of Mini Tennis and is very important for building skills and confidence.
The emphasis is on fundamental sporting skills such as coordination and movement, and an introduction to rallying and playing the game. It is played on a small court and uses larger tennis balls with a low bounce and small tennis rackets (21" long), and is primarily for children aged under 8 years old.
Matches use a tie-break format of first to 7 points.

Mini Tennis Orange for children aged 8-9 (born in 2002)
Mini Tennis Orange introduces children to playing on a 3/4 length tennis court.
The low bounce orange ball slows the game down to a speed that gives players time to play good basic tennis and have maximum fun playing the game! Larger rackets (23" long) are used and Mini Tennis Orange is designed for players who are 8 and 9 years old.
Matches use a tie-break format of first to 7 points, and are usually best of 3 tie-breaks.

Mini Tennis Green for children aged 10 and under (born in 2001)
Mini Tennis Green is the final stage before children move to Tennis.
The children play on a full size tennis court but the green ball is slightly lower bouncing than the normal tennis ball and helps children to develop good technique and to rally consistently. Longer rackets are used (25" long) and Mini Tennis Green is designed for children aged 10 and under.
Scoring is tie-break style of first to 7 points and best of 3 tie-breaks, or proper tennis scoring with a shortened format, e.g. one short set with a tie-break at 4-4.
